Deployment task works only for Windows NT/2000/XP. For Windows 9x you have to use some alternative method, see http://download5.avast.com//files/beta/adnmqs.pdf

I try to use the command with the InstPkgs directory

setup.exe /createprogress /sfx /sfxstorage "."

as write in the manual

During the installation it ask me the license file and i choose the file that i used for the mangement console (beta2)

After the reboot of the pc, Avast don't start and i have a message of "invalid file license"

any help?
Thanks

You should've chosen DEMO instead.
The AMS license file is probably not good enough.

This is a bit confusing, I admit -- we're gonna change this behavior in the release version. The setup shouldn't ask for the license file at all...

Thanks

How i can install step by step an avast network client on Windows 98 machine? could you answer me?

I try this but i have a problem:

-I installed the old beta 1 InstPkgs  setup_av_net.exe
and I choosed DEMO

-then I lanch the string
setup.exe /createprogress /sfx /sfxstorage "." from the new beta2 InstPkgs and I choosed UPDATE

Now, on the client avast works fine, but I have a problem

From the ADNM Console I see the windows98 machine in a gray state and not in a green state as the other XP and W2k avast client. I can't manage it from the console.
I think there's some communication problem from windows98 machine and the ADNM Console.

This is my avast4.ini on windows98 machine:

1. Is this the IP address of the management server: 200.200.175.2 ??
2. Please check if the AvAgent.exe process is running.

Ciao

Yes 200.200.175.2 is the correct IP of my server

If I press CTRL+ALT+CANC I didn't see AvAgent.exe process running, but Avast client is running

We'll try it here.

It's a matter of fact that we focused our testing on NT based machines so it may not work properly under Win9x. We'll test it and let you know.

BTW is there anything in the avast\data\log folder on that machine? Especially in the Error.log file?

Thanks

What is the OS of the machine, exactly?

It seems that MS Jet drivers are not functionable there. Please download and install the latest MDAC package from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en

and then go to <avast>\data\avast4.ini and change the line

Database=XML

to

Database=ODBC

Thanks

Windows 98 First Edition

I can't install MDAC becouse it's an old pc with IE 4.0

I changed from XML to OBDC but i didn't see the pc in the console

Well, simple change from XML to ODBC won't obviously work as the ODBC drivers seem to be malfunctioning on that machine...

IE 4.0 shouldn't IMHO be a problem - or the MDAC installer told you otherwise?

The last news:

I updated IE to 5.5 SP2 version

I installed the last MDAC

I changed to ODBC

But in the ADNM Console I still see gray the machine with Windows 98
