Certain keys are not fuctioning on my keyboard periodically
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:52:40 PM »
I am having a problem with certain keys on my keyboard not functioning. The keys affected are: R/T/F/G/V/B. I will have to repeatedly press these keys very hard, along with other functioning keys and they will eventually reactivate. This problem will occur periodically on the Vista password sign on screen and sometimes it will happen during the day.

I ran a full scan with archived files on Avast then ran Malwarebytes. Both have come up clean multiple times.

Could this be some kind of root kit both programs have not detected, or could it be due to food or dust messing up the contact points?

Thanks

you should not drink Budweiser and eat burgers when typing ....... ;D

i am guessing this one (or could it be due to food or dust messing up the contact points?)
Try a different keyboard or clean it, and see what happens ?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, now I'm hungry  ;D

It could be food, I do eat over the board daily, and did turn it over and gave it a good shake. I will try to blow it out with the air can too.

Yes I had the same problem too, when some keys don't work on my PC keyboard and what I found was cookie crumb's left over hiding under my keys ::) and some small coffee stain as well.

I had to removed the key's with a screw driver to clean then out and place my keyboard button back on, oh! well nobody is perfect and I guess we all heard this conversation before "Never eat at your keyboard while working or playing games". ;) ;)

heerm....well the transparent plastic bag is protecting the keyboard from what ever a dentist would have on his hands.....
so if you want to eat burgers when you type you can use the same trick

You can actually get proper fitted covers for keyboard protection more costly than your bog standard plastic bag though.

Depending on the age of the Keyboard it may be on its way out, you can pick up a reasonable keyboard for very little money now. I bought one some time ago, brand new unused but old model, the postage cost more than the keyboard 99p, but this Benq is a very nice keyboard.
