Avast 4.8 PRo current build, windows xp, vista and 7

i need to know if this is the correct way for scanning for viruses/root kits on the system and in memory. I have had some one tell me that scanning the memory is point less i want verify if this is wrong or right to do.

Currently doing this for scanning customers computers that are infected.

Switch avast to enhanced interface

select tasks

Creating new task called ALL

Under task properties

Area-i Add the following=>adding all areas of hard drives, auto start programs, auto start programs(all users),Root kits (full Scan), and operating memory of the computer.

Now i know there are false positives, am not worried about them.

Type-select Content, Scan all files.

Sensitivity-Test hole files and ignore virus targeting.

1. The Enhanced User Interface (EUI) is only available if you have avast 4.8 Pro.

2. If you have 4.8 pro, I would suggest that you download the latest version of avast, 5.0.507 and install that.

This doesn't have an EUI but a single User Interface (UI) and is much more user friendly. If your 4.8 pro version is still in date then the remainder of the period will be carried over to avast 5.0 pro.

I can't answer it as I have never used the avast 4.8 pro EUI.

Well such a scan will definitely take a while to complete, but otherwise, I don't see any problem with it...
