I have an update message but, can't update...hopefully the attached image will be helpful.

I have never had any issues with updating (or anything else) until now.  Thanks.

Same here after several attempts. I'm going to try later.

I have 5 computers so a couple of them went fine until everyone jumped on board. ;D

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Then try a manual update again.

There is NOT a single post before ours (romanom and Diazruanova) that states that the servers are overloaded, so where did you get the quoted info?

XP Pro SP3 avast! Pro  update from 5.0.462 to 5.0.507
all good

on reboot - OA prmium asked for the changes to be okayed.
I chose Trust and Allow.

XP Pro SP3 avast! IS (trial) 5.0.504 to 5.0.507
all good

avast!Free 5.0.514 to 5.0.507
two step process not sure second step was program or engine
Restart - OA premium Ask for avastUI and I confirmed
no icon in system tray
so started the program, updated engine and closed
Restart and all good

  Thank Avast team very much.
I've just update today. Version 5.0.507 updates from 5.0468 version and runs softly on my computer(Windows vista) ;D , and the thing I really want to say is VietNamese language appearing in this version very well. Hahahaha.
I and my friends wish Avast will get more success in the future
  Best regards

I have it configured to "Ask when an update is available" (a program update, that is).  The main window says "A new version of the program is available!".  So OK, if avast! knows an update is available, why didn't it ask?  If I hadn't checked the GUI myself, I wouldn't have known.
I have the same problem. Avast 5 never informs me in pop-ups about the program's update. Avast 4 did it flawlessly.
May the FOSS be with you!

Then you need glasses. Read the LOGOS post in first page

it's just like that...to avoid overloading the servers. If everybody was warned at the same time, ie immediately after a new version was available, nobody could get it. From what I read it takes about a week or so until all Avast users get the message. It's just technically impossible to proceed differently due to the amount of users, and Avast isn't Microsoft ;) (note that Windows Update servers are damned slow ;D ...fortunately it's never more than a few megs a week )

Darn! I should've waited to reformat my computer!

(Download.com still has the previous release. Ack!)

Just curious, what's the usual turn around for the latest build to be available for download at Cnet?

Pardon me as I transition...! xD  Thanks!

(I updated AIS on another computer, & it went so smoothly! 8) )

Edit: I decided I couldn't wait & just reinstalled AIS. It just gave me the update prompt. I checked download.com again & the new build was not there yet. I will probably check every day to see how long it will take for my own info.

~sigh~ My post got lost in this thread.... ~shrugs~ Oh well....

Edit 2: It may have gotten lost, but I did find AIS .507 at http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe .... ...can now do a fresh install....  :)
