Network Shield Notifications
« on: April 16, 2010, 08:45:11 PM »
OK. Strange, but I can't find simple answer - is there any option not to hear sound notification from network shield only. This sound "Threat has been detected" goes a bit annoying, but the only option I find seems to turn off all the sounds, or am I wrong?  :)

Hello ylap,

Annoying in the sense.. you see the alert more too often?

These dcom exploits should blocked by firewall, ain't it?

Well, it's blocked, but don't know why network shield blocks it, not firewall, by the way, I see/hear it not less than 10 times a day  ;D

@=YLAP=
hope you are using AIS. dcom should be blocked by firewall. But also then network shield will show you alarms. Because network shield has been prepared for handling this kind of exploits. Even Avast free can block these attacks.
Do you like Avast sounds when a virus is detected or when update is completed? If no you can shut down Avast sounds from settings.
Else you can download DCOMbobulator. It will
Quote
quickly check their system's DCOM vulnerability, then
simply shut down the unnecessary DCOM security risk
And you will never get any such exploits.

Check on Shields Up to make sure your ports are showing Stealth.

Glad to hear it, Is AIS not stealthing all ports when installed? If so this needs to be fixed.

If set on "Work. medium risk zone." no, not all ports are stealth. Only on "Public. High risk zone". Plus I set Default Rules to "Ask" on Expert settings.
