Free/Pro Differences
« on: April 17, 2010, 08:24:28 PM »
Best I can tell, the only differences between Free and Pro is faster updates, sandbox, and script blocking (but only in 32bit and IE). (http://www.avast.com/comparison-chart)

Is this true?

And what does "faster updates" mean?  Does that refer to the speed of download, how quickly updates are made available, or the frequency of automatic updating?

Thanks!

faster updates (= frequency or priority , and not download speed ;D ) I don't think so. There are two updates a day maximum and I'm not sure at all that "pro" users have any sort or priority...to be confirmed, or not...I'm using AIS after having used "free", and I didn't notice any difference (for auto-updates).

sandbox yes (well, it's in the list :) )
script blocking works in both 64 and 32 bit OS, but is restricted to  IE yes, or anything else running a script in Windows, with the exception of Firefox, Chrome and Opera ;D

I also didn't see any difference between free, pro and ais. You can only set the update interval lower than in the free version, but that doesn't help much, if no updates are available... ;)

No, there's no sandboxing in the free version...
You can use sandboxie to get that. (http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?FrequentlyAskedQuestions)

Not everyone agrees on the usefulness of NoScript.

2007-03-24 23:53 by Wladimir Palant

and second, there's been issues in the past between the ABP team and the the NS team... they just hate(d?) each other...both are the best extensions in Firefox, hence the rivalry etc...

adding: that you can block ads with NS, but hey, you can't block scripts with ABP ;D (don't make deductions, I use both)
