Avast Internet Security Help

Hello, I am having trouble with my email & the only way I can get my email to work is to turn off my Firewall in Avast Internet Security. I have Windows Vista & my email comes through Microsoft Outlook. I would like any help anybody can give me. This just started a couple of days ago.

 I figured out my problem I had both firewalls on, the Windows Firewall & the Avast Firewall. I turned off the Windows firewall & left the Avast firewall on & this solved my problem.
