problem with avast 5 free 5.0.507 when I need to do restor Windows xp sp2

I use Windows xp sp2 problem starts when using a restor point,before I restor turned off avast, the system is complete restor avast stop working, when I push fix  or start program avast now does not respond, and I have to re-install avast.
