That is avast 5.0 the latest version of avast antivirus.

The 4.8 registration key won't work in 5.0.

Do you have avast avast Pro ?
If so you can convert your old license key.

- avast! 5 Pro license convert from 4.8 Pro license. Try http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php now, fill in the form giving your email and 4.8 Pro License key and they will send the new license file to you (presumably it will check you have a legit 4.8 Pro license first).

- Avast! Pro antivirus Quick Start Guide http://files.avast.com/files/documentation/quick-start-guide-pro-en-ww.pdf

Registration, also see http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459.

Yes, you should be able to go back to avast 4.8 though I have no ideal why you would want to do that as avast 5.0 provides better protection.

You would however need to have your 4.8 pro license key in the email you were sent.

You would also have to find the area on the avast site so you could download 4.8 pro.

Fellow Canadian here.

Look at:
avast! Free Antivirus license resend
http://www.avast.com/resend-license-free-antivirus.php

Best to install avast! fresh.

Download avast! free:

Download aswClear5.exe

Follow directions.

Install downloaded file.
