No all it will do is change the sound that you hear when say, avast! is updated, or a scan is finished...kinda like changing your ringtone...the phone still works ;)

@Vlk,

Thanks for confirming :)

Just to be 100% clear, the new sounds are going to be replaced in the next release build?
To be honest I rather like the v5 sounds and would prefer to keep them.
a! v5 is a whole new product and I don't see the benefit in incorporating the old v4 sounds that I associate with with the old version.
Would be taking a step backwards IMO.  :'(

Sorry for dropping in but do you mean that Avast 5 sounds are being thrown out (in future versions) or do you mean that V4 sounds will be overwritten again by Avast 5 sounds for those who reintegrate V4 sounds manually

jwa, the next program update (or repair) will bring back the original sounds...

I gathered from this post that v4's sounds will be making a return (into the next build of v5).
I'm not real sure if that was what Tech meant or not, but I'm hoping it's not the case.

No idea where/how did you come to such conclusion?  ???

if anything you would assume the Alwil team would keep V5's sounds or have both V4's and V5's included to appease those who miss them, it would seem a pointless excercise to switch back now.  ALIV where did you acquire this information?

I agree.
Page 1 of this thread.
I may have misinterpreted what Tech was saying though.

Basically, the discussion before was about the corrections that may happen, should you change the sound files themselves.

We were unsure if we changed to sounds to something that we wanted, if they would be 'fixed' again when we updated/repaired avast!

I'm pretty sure the sounds will stay as they are for now. :)

That's a relief, thanks for clearing that up.
Sorry if my misunderstanding alarmed anyone (other than myself)!  :P

I installed today.  I have the woman's voice. I had become quite fond of the gentleman's voice.
Is it back?  I could not find an option to choose ... only the option to have voice or not.
That would be nice, ya know -- the option to choose male or female voice.

Anyway ... hoping what you say is true and the original sounds return.
