Avast has caused an error in ASWCMNB.DLL

OK, here I am. Please replace the following files:

http://www2.asw.cz/~vlk/log/aswCmnB.dll
http://www2.asw.cz/~vlk/log/aswCmnOS.dll

(just put them to your avast directory [overwrite existing]).

After you run avast, a file called C:\_avast.log should be generated. Please send me this file (or post its contents to the forum).

ok, sorry it took so long again, heres the log file
tried to attach log containing details of the error that now comes up, it different from before, but its still erroring, but the file is too big (240k)

Strange... WinSock initialization fails. Do you have any problems with accessing the network? What is your connection? Do you have any special network software/drivers installed?
