Hi guys.

When I click to download Avast Free in Alwil products web page, it takes me to CNT Downloads, but it is still offering 507. What gives?

Thank you.
Hang in there. Apparently they are staggering the release, so it may be a while before you get it. If you can't wait try downloading from the web site.

Exactly my point. It sends me to CNT download from the web site.

I already upgraded to 545 through the program updater without any problems. It is just that I like to have the full installer handy just in case.

Thank you.

Sorry, I didn't realize you had done the upgrade already. I think if you wanted a copy of the installer, you should have done a clean install.

Re: New *release* (5.0.545) - Crashes Outlook 2007
« Reply #33 on: May 07, 2010, 03:57:12 PM »
This occurs in previous versions too.  The AVAST Outlook plug-in does not appear to work when Outlook is invoked in the background from Windows Explorer.  If I use explorer to browse a folder, right click on a .jpg (picture) file, right click and select "send to mail recipient", then click "attach", Outlook is invoked in the background to create the email message.  Outlook crashes with the exception shown below with the faulting module being the AVAST plug-in.  This is 100% repeatable on my Windows-7 / 64-bit system.  If I disable the Avast plug-in from within Outlook, Outlook is invoked without crashing.

Quote
Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 12.0.6514.5000, time stamp: 0x4a89dc70
Faulting module name: ashOutXt.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4be3295f
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x030c9ac7
Faulting process id: 0x149c
Faulting application start time: 0x01caedec0fd5c8f7
Faulting application path: D:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE
Faulting module path: ashOutXt.dll
Report Id: 4df23485-59df-11df-a040-0016e6dbbdf4

Additional note....  If I start up Outlook separately and minimize it before performing the above steps, Outlook does not crash. The email with attachment is created fine.  So this appears to be a plug-in initialization bug of some kind.

Thanks.

I had encountered a problem in my pc after updating this version 5.0.545.
The Avast Icon in Task bar is displaying that "Attention Your System is not fully protected", even though i had updated the antivirus engine and also the product and even after Restaring the system...
My Current Program version is:5.0.545...
Virus Definition is:100507-0.

Updated to .545 (from 503) without problem.

A quick system scan (including PUPs) took just less than 20 mins for almost 22 gigs of files.  I noticed through Task-Manager that avast doesn't require much CPU time... hovering around 2% to 5%.

Thanks to the Alwil team for their work and dedication to making a superb product!

After this update avast prevents Thunderbird from downloading my emails both on my laptop and PC with Windows7.  :-[
To download emails I have to turn email protection functionality off...Ports and encrypting protocols are declared as they were before, it should be OK but it's not...strange
