...I don't think Google has anything to fear from any other search engine...at least not for the next ten or twenty years minimum...they have an edge over the others like MS has with Windows in the operating system area...we know how long this can last now ;D as to running an extension or a script, many will use that...will be interesting to know the percentage, and it's obviously too early to tell...I doubt this will have the same success like AdB+ has...
To tell you the truth, they wanted to bring a new design allowing to reach anything on the web, and I'd say "mission completed so far". The rest isn't very interesting. People will learn how to use the new interface and it won't take more than a couple of months until they hate the old version, or just forget it ever existed.

Hi DavidR,

That plug-in even exists for GoogleChrome: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/jcacnmibccjjonfihgnieefkingolocb
And for Fx: http://www.seotools.com/hide-google-options/index.htm

Yes, I know and have it installed already, as my image in Reply #22 shows.

this new interface is fantastic, and I'm really upset with people's reactions ::)
I'm not upset as I would hate to become a curmudgeon. ;)

, and I'm really upset with people's reactions ::) I guess I should get used to it, it's always the same when changes occur, the old one was always better ::) ...as you may have noticed in my posts here, I'm far from being a philanthropist, and every time something like that happen, how the majority reacts to new good stuff (I insist on "good", the new interface is just brilliant), I know why I'm not...a philanthropist ;D

ps: I've been there when Vista came out, been there too when KDE 4 in Linux came out etc... ::)

As the original poster of this abhorence enforced upon users of Google ,you comments "this new interface is fantastic " must put you in the tiniest minority known to man , going by all the reaction world wide .As a comedian on Parkinson once said " it's as popular as a fart in a spacesuit " The reasons people all over detest this , are succintly put by David R.

all these reactions were expected...they don't matter, they're just a part of that usual and very ordinary social game...your reference to DavidR makes your argument convincing...go ahead ;D

Use Scroogle scraper:

We regret to announce that our Google scraper may have to be permanently retired, thanks to a change at Google. It depends on whether Google is willing to restore the simple interface that we've been scraping since Scroogle started five years ago. Actually, we've been using that interface for scraping since Google-Watch.org began in 2002.

How to access the old Google Search. No hacks or scripts required.

As you will probably know, Google Search has had somewhat of a face lift over the last week.

To say there has been an uproar over the latest update would be a lie, but there are plenty of people (as with any change) that would like to see the old version back.

Old is better.
Why should we lose all that vertical space with that info? ???

Is there a way to locally send www.google.com to http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=all (at least on Firefox)?
