AVAST 5 and Netgear SC101 - Problem and Solution
« on: May 08, 2010, 01:00:14 PM »
Hi,
I had a problem with AVAST 5 Internet Security and my Netgear SC101 external HDD.
Every time I installed AVAST 5 I had no access to my network HDD.
I checked everthing with the guys in the German board.
But nothing would help.
We stopped all functions of AVAST but we found no solution for the problem.
The next step was to uninstall parts of AVAST.
The first was the Firewall. No effect.
The second was to uninstall the virtualization. That was the solution.
I have no full access to my network HDD.
Maybe there is a problem with the driver of the SC101 and the virtualization mod.

I hope this will help you to find a solution for the problem.

Thanks for info.

How is your Netgear connected to your PC? LAN/wifi, or USB?
Do you use Netgear Storage Central Manager utility? Or which tool do you use to mount external HDD to your system?
What filesystem is on the disk? Ntfs, ext2/3?

Hi,
the ext. HDD is connected over LAN to my PC.
I use the Storage Central Manager Utility software.
The Filesystem is DATAPLOW_ZFS.
Driver is Z-SANService.

I hope this will help you.
