Avast and Vista - major security problems, please help!!
« on: May 30, 2010, 07:58:37 PM »
I've been a user of this programme for a number of years and experienced no problems.

I have since bought a new laptop with Windows Vista, which seems to be causing me problems!

My current Avast registration is due to expire in the next couple of days and I've tried to download the free version but it says it won't allow due to my security settings.  I have read the advice on the Avast website and followed it, but still no joy!

Please help!

Thanks,

Melon

Which browser are you using?
Can you ping files.avast.com server?

Strange... maybe your computer came with a preinstalled antivirus and it is blocking avast.
IE shouldn't block avast to be downloaded. Aren't you seeing a bar in the top of the IE window asking you to allow the download?

What are the settings under internet explorer?

Go to Tools/Internet Options/Security/ Custom Level/
From this window scroll down , and you can enable the options to allow you to download.
