How is possible that Avast! is free for personal use and other Av producer offer only their product if a people  pay?
What is the motivation of Alwill to use this politic?

When i origionaly i found out about Avast! i tought "great a decent free product", i am soon going to buy the pro version because i like it so much, i thinks that is there motivation.

I do not speak for the Avast vendor, however, when a product is as good as Avast, then you want to let people know not only about the quality of the product, but the support available.

What better way then to offer a freeware version!

As you have seen, once you get a taste of the Home version, then the Pro is the way to go.  It may not be their only motivation, but it does pay the bills.   ;D

Well, a lot of users known avast! today.
It comes from the 'bottom' and it is (today) the 33th most downloaded application in CNET.
Maybe 'advertisement' or 'merchandising' will answer for their side.
