Avast free version 5.0 registration problem.
« on: May 11, 2010, 07:17:48 PM »
Hi.
So here's the issue.
Ive been using Avast for a number of years now, and i recently updated to version 5.
Then my rego expired.
So i arrived at this screen in the first attachment

So i clicked on the register now button, which popped up the one in the second
And what happens on clicking register on that one?
It takes me back to the first screen in a horrible loop.

So i did the email register.
Got sent the key alright, but on putting it in, it says that its not valid.

Some help would be really great, as i'm kinda virus protection-less at the moment and stumped as to how to fix it.

did you restart after the install, before you hit the register button ?

have you tried avast repair / reboot / register button ?

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

This is how it should work

Ok, i reset my system, then did a clean install to a different location.
Apparently that made everything work as it should.
Its all back up and running at 100%.
Thanks for the help.

Click the Register gray button on the second screenshot. Just that.
Check if the final state is not a "demo" installation of version 5.
