As you do not give much information about your system then not much help can be offered.

Outpost Free works well with avast!

okay

I am using

Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU
T5200 @ 1.60GHz
1.60 GHz,
1.99GB of RAM

I am using only one antivirus and windows firewall.
Can i use Zone alarm or other free firewalls without hampering my system files?????

If yes, then which one would be better?????????

No. avast free antivirus won't conflict with any 3rd party firewall.

I got tired of Windows 7 Firewall Control, so I decided to replace it with ZA.

ZA is more user friendly than W7FC.

Since I have a one year subscription of ZoneAlarm Pro for up to three computers,

I put it on both computers, XP & Windows 7 64bit.

ZA Pro is running smooth & quiet on both systems.

While ZA Pro offers more protection than ZA Free, ZA Free has never failed to protect

my computers, is ZA Pro really better?  In other words, is the added protection of ZA Pro needed?

Avira is said to have more detections than avast!, but since avast! hasn't failed me, is Avira better?

I've never needed the extra features of WinPatrol Plus.

Zemana hasn't found any keyloggers on my XP machine.  (Zemana doesn't run on 64bit systems.)

The security combo of avast! 5, WinPatrol, and ZoneAlarm can't be beat for ease of use, lite on

resourse use and excellent security. IMHO :)
