No trial for Mac avast!?

Maybe blind, dunno...
But do I understand I need to pay for an Avast! in beta?
And unlike PC/Linux, there is no trial/free version?

Hallo, there's a 60day trial for every new user (after macos x reinstallation, youy will be considered new user again). Otherwise, there's a paid 1, 2 or 3-years license, for a reasonable price.

please use the latest release candidate, available as sticky post in this forum.

pc

That 60 day trial doesn't appear to work.
I've never installed Avast! before, and it keeps saying my license isn't valid, asking me to find a license file.

I meant, I don't mind paying for a good software, but your appear to be still in beta.
Paying for something not finish, and having a license run out while something is in dev doesn't sounds amazing.

nope, it's a release candidate - not a beta. the trial is activated when there's really no clue that avast has never been on the system.
so, you should get 60 days - but i'll test it tomorrow - please tell me the version of your system.

btw. might be a bug - here's similar post: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=54952.15
probablyt caused by the new installer's clean-all-incemental-data step.

Hallo, it's rather a consequence of the new 3.08's installer - what would help you now is to delete this file (in your home directory):

~/Library/Preferences/com.avast.MacAvast.plist

... now, it will happily install the new trial, not confused by old preferences from the previous version (which will be lost, on the other hand).
version 3.09 will solve this flaw in the installer, without the need to purge this old file.
