Support for AMD64 in new version
« on: August 10, 2004, 06:51:20 PM »
Hi, I downloaded the Avast for Linux edition today, and when I try to install it, it says:

Your architecture (x86_64) is not supported by the
       avast!4 installer.

I would really like to see this worked out in a future version, if it's possible. Next to that, the demo for Avast for Linux could be included in Gentoo's Portage tree. This will make sure it stays up to date, and even could help building a name for Avast within Gentoo. :)

is this a native Linux build for x64 or just an ordinary linux loaded on an AMD64 box?

You can try commenting out the check in the installation *.sh files just to see if it works... it really could. :)

Interesting. What would it take to do that?

Thanks
