zonealarm alerts: avast inactive
« on: July 16, 2004, 05:24:54 PM »
Zonealarm pro keeps alerting me that it cannot detect
an antivirus running on my computer.
I have Avast home edition installed on WinXP machine,
resident protection activated and i keep getting the automatic update notices.
I also have spybot installed with resident protection activated.
Any ideas welcome.

Happens because ZA doesn't see the Avast, but it is not a problem of Avast. Avast works correctly.  ;)

i have used Zonealarm pro with avast! home before, basicly Zonealarm just doesn't pick Avast up, they are both working correct though, so no worrys there, bt if you do want to do something about this i suggest you either Email zonealarm and ask for avast to be added to the detection list or say something in the Zonealarm forums.

ZA was sold to another security company... The competitors don't want to recognize avast  :'( Poor competitors  ;D

Hi aryehartmann,
Try going back to ZA 4.5. The new version is giving lots of people headaches.
By the way, welcome to the Forums. we're glad you joined us. :)

I'm using Zone alarm Pro too, and it don't recognize not only the avast! but also Kaspersky and Panda weren't found on my computer. But don't worry, I'm using avast! Home and I know what is working correctly and it's the best for my "oldie"!  ;D Good luck, and fewer threats!

This doesn't only happen with the latest version(s) of Zonealarm, but also with Microsofts sp2 (for windows XP).
Commerce is unfortunatly not to the benefit of the users who have a limited knowledge about computers, software and related products.  :-\

Luckely there is the Avast forum  :D with a lot of people who tell you the truth and give good advice/help

Artras, Vlk said a lot of times that this is not true... SP2 does recognize avast. Only AMD 64bits version still not.  8)

For those of you who are using ZA and either don't have or cant get version ZA v4.5.594.000, I have it in my ICQ shared Files.
All you need is ICQ and add me to your contacts.
Hope that helps. :)
