Avast Free 5 Will not update

release 100509-1
Running windows 7 professional and windows firewall.
Avast is listed in firewall as ok
Avast asks me if i would like to update and i agree. the update program starts and says updating 1/2 and does nothing....

any ideas?
I am on HS cable connection
proxy is set to automatic
connected perm to internet not checked in setup

Set proxy to "none" and test...

I agree with Tech.  If your on BB, you're most likely not on a proxy.

In addition, if you want your updates to be automatic in the future, go to the Avast UI > Settings (upper right corner) > Updates (left side) > "Engine Virus Update" & "Program" -> change to Automatic.
