Strange errors
« on: July 18, 2004, 01:21:53 PM »
Sorry if there was another topic about this problem, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

After successfull instalation and registration, when I'm trying to start Avast Antyvirus (by right clicking on avast on-access scanner) I get those three messages:
1. Storage cannot be created for the "splash" task.
2. Configuration not loaded properly, error: dbsCreateObject.
3. Program cannot save parameters to the storage (error: dbsCreateObject).

Clicking on the start button in resident protection window does nothing. Any suggestions?

I've Windows XP OS and the newest version of Avast!

As DavidR recently posted:

A search on dbsCreateObject on these forums returns lots of hits and should be your first port of call.

This thread does deal with the same error and should help, otherwise complete the search that I did to find this thread and more.

There is a wealth of information on these forums, all you have to do is look, search for the error such as 'dbsCreateObject' in this case and see what comes up.

Daara, wellcome.
You can see the 'Settings' link on my signature.
Probably if you change the storage type from ODBC to XML it will work.

RejZoR's application ('Control' in my signature) could do it automatically. Download, run and choose that option.

Hope this help  ;)
