Umm..wow.
If I understood you correctly, you're saying that avast
basically carved up your OS and dropped it all in the chest???
Ok, taking that at face value, because I have NEVER seen that before,
lets go into your virus chest, (maintenance tab, select virus chest), and lets look at
one of those files..rite clik on the firefox file, select properties, and read what it says about it.
Post that answer.
In a nutshell, without knowing your OS, version, ect..I would guess you got a bad install.
I would suggest restoring all the files from the chest, uninstalling avast, grabbing a fresh copy from avast.com and re-installing. I will post some uninstall instructions created by another user, SafeSurf.
Beyond this, I do not know what to say:
Please follow these instructions:
Save a copy of newest version of Avast.
Save the http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility on your hard drive.
Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
Uninstall Avast through "Add/Remove Programs".
Boot into Safe Mode and run the Avast Uninstall Tool.
Reboot twice.
Clean your computer up.
Install the newest version of Avast and reboot twice.
Get Internet access and update Avast definitions.
Register your free copy or add the license key.
Reset your settings, if needed.
Run a scan (try a Full System Scan initially to check for malware).
Please let us know if you have any further questions or problems after completing the above or questions prior to completing the above mentioned steps. Thank you.
