Location Of Virus Definition Files

Hi all

I am using Shadow Defender and I want to exclude certain files from Shadow Mode ie from being virtualized.

Could you tell me which Avast 5 files/folders need to be excluded or alternatively which files and folders are the virus definition updates downloaded to.

Try to exclude these paths (program + vps updates):

avast program folder:

• C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5

avast data folder:

• C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5 (Win2K, WinXP)
• C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5 (Vista, Win7)

avast system files:

• C:\Windows\system32\drivers\asw*.sys

Totally off-topic, but triggered by pk's reply ... is it likely that the next full program update will rename (or more likely, replace) the "alwil" folders to correspond with the company's name change?

Hardly possible for existing installations - i.e. when it happens, it will be for new installations only.
