Avast for Mac and Avast Professional

I am new to Mac and want provide Avast protection to the Mac OS as well as to Virtual XP.
Will Avast for Mac also scan virtual xp? Do I need to install Avast for windows  in Virtual XP in addition to Avast for Mac?
