computer locks up in boot-time scan when it finds a virus

we use Avast Professional version 4.8
during boot-time scan, Avast finds Win32:Delf-MZE [Drp] and gives all the options but the computer is then locked up and you can't pick any of the options like delete, move, repair and ESC doesn't work either to end the scan.

What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

What Operating System are you using ?

Is  your keyboard a USB or PS2 keyboard ?

Have you previously been able to use this keyboard during a boot-time scan ?

I suspect that you may be using a USB keyboard and windows XP, as for some reason XP/avast doesn't support USB keyboards during the boot-time scan.

You would also have to have USB devices enabled in the BIOS settings, I can't say where that is within the BIOS settings as the different manufacturers have different setups.
