Heuristicproblem with crypted Mails
« on: June 17, 2010, 06:02:49 PM »
Hey all,

i hope I'm here in the right area for my problem, if not plz move it.

I have Thunderbird and enigmail installed here on my laptop. The Program for crypt is GnuPT. And now my problem:
If e become a crypt ed Mail so call avast a suspect Attachment. The joke in this story is, avast can handle the same both Attachment if anybody send they me in a not crypt ed Mail. Filesaveprotection and webprotection have no problems with the files. The files a the type .asc and .pgp-encrypted. I have made some tests how i can delete this problem. If i set the Mailheuristic off, so he made the same problems and call heuristic found. I have made a complete senseless test an have set all heuristic off. And he do it again. From where he become the order to made heuristic scan? Give it any higher Level the order out to check all with heuristic?
I have test what he made with crypt ed text. We have crypt and copy the crypt in the mail and it was OK for him. So in principal he should handle the crypted Mails. What ways i have now to delete my problem? A Withelist for mailsenders is not in avast. The best way is to add this both files to a withlist, and then it should work?! But i have only found a option to give him a path in a withlist.  Or deactivate the heuristicscan in the mail in box. The only way what i have current is to disable the scan for incoming mails.

Have anybody a idea how to made it? I hope my English here was to understand, its not my mother language.

I have no problem here with Enigmail and Avast, but you use GnuPT and I use GnuPG. Never heard of GnuPT before btw http://www.gnupt.de/wp/ ... sounds interesting ;)

GnuPG was no alterative. This have made me some problems with PSI a jabberclient. I have made a german video, better 3 with installing and creating keys. crypt with this. and add this in thunderbird an psi.

can't tell, I have PSI installed too, but haven't used it yet (and might never have to  ;D ). All I can say is the interface with GnuPG is okay, when I connect, but I can't tell what would happen in real world conditions, ie actually using the software for what it's for, communicating.

A little side note, I tried cryptoheaven, which is an encrypted email (you can test for free) and is completely anonymous.  Creating Keys was simple.  I had no conflicts with avast in sending attachments that were documents, pictures, or voice.  And I also use PSI.

I don't like to change the crypt Software. The different from Gnupg and Gnupt is not very big, GnuPT have better work on my my tower and laptop. And crypt in psi works fine too.  Avast don't made trouble here. And if i send a crypt ed mail, he made nothing against it. In the mailprotection work the same heuristic i think? For the same work he made 2 different rules, with the same module. See i this false?

Lets see us this on the other end. On what time check avast the outsended mails? If i write the mail, or if the mail leave thunderbird? The only different is the name of the files in the attachments. The filetype are the same. This is the point what i cant understand. What work not right?

I think never touch a running system and the GnuPT run perfect. Administration keys, crypt Mails, crypt messages in psi, crypt files all work perfect. And this work perfect in avast too. This is so absolute stupidly. If i send me self a complete crypt ed mail, avast don't sort out. Why not here? Made no sense. Here i send out, and avast check the mail, no found is OK. In the next step, i download it with thunderbird from the server and avast check it ( he made it all the time with heuristic ) and found nothing. Both mails have the same style. A crypt ed part and the attachments.

Logos what system have you? Any windows? I write crypt ed with Linux users. If you like then we can change our mail address in pm and send us a crypt ed mail. Our system to crypt should be compatible. Principal should made this no different what system is installed.

Current i have disable the scan from incoming mails. This is current my only way for crypt ed mails.
