Installing Immunet
« on: June 19, 2010, 03:41:27 PM »
Can any body help me I tried to install Immunet AV to run along with Avast 5, but after I tried to restart I got a blue screen with this message.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: LVPrcMon.sys
The driver unloaded without cancelling pending operations.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow theses steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you may need.

If problem continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x000000D4 (0xBAC41410, 0x00000002 , 0x00000000 , 0x80536622)

LVPrcMon.sys

Does anybody know what this is. I have never seen this message  before.

I have since uninstalled Immunet in Safe Mode. But I would like to try it as I believe it works well with Avast.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would recommend you stay away from Immunet because it has been blacklisted by hpHosts.

http://hosts-file.net/default.asp?s=immunet.com

You may want to remove the program with Revo Uninstaller.

Thanks for your advice, I will keep away from it for a while.I did remove it with Revo, so it's completely gone. I notice CNET gives it nearly 5 stars. I would still be interested to know about the Blue Screen Message and what it means.

But you are quite correct, it does ask you to install the Ask toolbar. But on the same page it has the Immunet toolbar, Under which it has
" standard Installation ". You have to uncheck this not to have the Immunet toolbar. It will then install the AV. All a bit sneaky. Maybe a good idea to avoid Immunet and it's toolbars altogether.

How "malware" is the Ask toolbar after all??? Foxit PDF Reader installs it too, and why not Avast in the near future. It pays for the free software I guess... Ask toolbar may be allows bad sites in its search results, just don't use it ;). I noticed it took me 2 trials to install Immunet 2 successfully mainly because of my ONLINE ARMOR FIREWALL HIPS, plus MBM blocked an URL while the ask toolbar was installed (but I unchecked its installation, so it's deactivated on my system, but still there!). I regret the community is only by now 200 000 or so because it accounts only the version 2.0 installations, not the previous ones, which is stupid!
For the rest, my system goes pretty fast. Everything is fine, so I suggest everyone to get its copy from CNET or PCWORLD which gave IMMUNET 2 a pretty good review so THE COMMUNITY grows FAST as BIG as it should! :)

I have ANTIVIR PREMIUM 10 on my system due to previous troubles with "AVAST", but I'm waiting for it to heal from its wounds so by next year hopefully it should be usable! 8)

I have now given up on the idea of installing Immunet. Apparently it is still in Beta ?????.

But does anybody know what the blue screen message meant.

I just dont trust Ask Toolbar.

Its seem not really friendly user. Also if avast! put this toolbar in the install then that could be a suicide !

They better keep Google than Ask.

Google is a big trusted browser and business so avast! has done great.

And they merit their cooperative also. ;)

IMHO, hpHost is getting a little to invasive with their blacklisting. As long as you are given the opportunity
to bypass the so called Immunet Toolbar (Ask Toolbar) there shouldn't be a reason to blacklist the program.  >:(
