First it upload files from your own.
Then, Ask installation.
Now, a toolbar!

No Immunet!

There is a option to disable 'submission of files to the community' in Immunet 2

And installation of Ask Toolbar is optional

Even Avast uploads your files if Avast finds it suspicious without your knowlege if you tick/join the community option when installing Avast...

And

I am well pleased with Immunet PRO and it is better than Prevx and Panda Cloud as it has an offline scan engine with definiton update frequently.

But Prevx wins the ram usage and Immunet comes next and the last one is Panda.

I would advise only Immunet Free because the definiton updates in PRO version is very frequent and after the initial definiton updates you find that Immunet has grown from 8MB to around 250 MB

But it all comes down to user preference

Let us wait for some independant rating agencies to test Immunet

And

Immunet 2 is no more a BETA. It has released the stable version yesterday.

EDIT:

I have been testing Immunet beside Avast for many months and probabily a year. It has no compatibilty issues with Avast.

Thanks to Bob and Tech re the Blue screen. It appears to be Logitech ProcMon Driver , as Tech suggested I did try Bobs link, but it's all looking a bit too technical for me. As I have now got everything working O.K. without Immunet and associated toolbars, I think I will leave things as they are. As Immunet is only one day out of Beta perhaps I jumped in a little soon. Never had the blue screen problem with anything else.

Thanks everybody for all their help.

I would recommend you stay away from Immunet because it has been blacklisted by hpHosts.

http://hosts-file.net/default.asp?s=immunet.com

You may want to remove the program with Revo Uninstaller.

Hi...

How does Immunet engage in malware distribution? ???

@elfpattaya: Your avatar shows up as a red "X" on my browser (IE8.)

Regards...

This is now getting silly. I have decided not to use Immunet. What my avatar looks like is surely up to me. Any chance of closing this topic . I don't know how to do it.

Hi...

I don't understand. ???

I have neither the desire nor the ability to spy on you. What I was attempting to communicate to you was that the avatar you chose cannot be seen by me as you intended it to be seen. It shows up on my browser as a red "X." This means that there is a problem somewhere. In no way am I telling you what avatar you can or cannot display.

Regards...

IMHO, hpHost is getting a little to invasive with their blacklisting. As long as you are given the opportunity
to bypass the so called Immunet Toolbar (Ask Toolbar) there shouldn't be a reason to blacklist the program.  >:(

Read what the author of hpHosts HOSTS file Steven Burn has to say about Immunet and the falsly named Immunet Toolbar:
http://forum.hosts-file.net/viewtopic.php?p=14087#p14087

I do not like any Toolbar as it is the easiest way to track your movements in the browser
Quote
Web browser toolbar add-ons

Toolbars implemented as web browser plug-ins have become a popular advertising platform for major brands, as well as smaller spyware and malware vendors. Browser toolbars are commonly bundled with installers for other "partner" products as an "opt-out" default without the user's explicit consent.

Browser toolbars provide helpful and useful functionality such as additional search fields, form-fill, links back to popular sites, malware detection, etc. However, their primary purpose is generally to collect anonymous marketing statistics or reinforce a brand (by displaying the logo at the top of each browser window).[2] As plug-ins to the web browser application, toolbars can also sometimes degrade performance or create compatibility problems
