I uninstalled again, reinstalled, and when it was done installing it proceeded to start leeching memory at about 10mb/second until it hit 3.8GB. Once it did, the amount of CPU time it was using went up to 13% and my BitTorrent download speed dropped from about 243kB/s to 10kb/s.  I opened the avastUI and it told me something had turned it off and it was unsecured. I turned it back on and my RAM usage, CPU usage, and download speed went back to normal.  I'm no expert, but it sounds to me like a virus got a hold of my Avast somehow and is hiding behind it on task manager... everything looks normal again but I'm still suspicious that somethings up

EDIT: RAM usage just randomly started climbing again a few minutes after I finished typing this. It's not done climbing yet but the problems obviously not fixed

Look like avast! p2p is scanning your torrents...

And that strange i think Malwarebytes Free should go a look on your system...

Also i would recommand Windows Defender real time to be on with no membership.

So scan 1 per 1 with the program. Otherwise they could detect some file of the another that is scanning.

If Malwarebytes did find nothing then i dont know really... :(

How about doing a boot scan with Avast! after scanning with MBAM?

Avast! can't do a boot scan on a 64bit system, can it?

Unfortunately, MBAB didn't find the problem.

I have no problem on my Windows 7 system with avast! RAM usage.

I do not use any BitTorrent application as that is the quickest way to get a system infected.

@AjCazz901

I think its the P2P causing prob on yours.

Try uncheck Bit Torrent on Avast P2P Shield.

Lets see how's the result?
Windows 11 Pro / Windows Defender/
Ryzen 5 1600/ Aorus Gtx 1080Ti Xtreme/ Gskill Trident Z RGB 3000/ Samsung Evo 250GB/ Western Digital Black 1 TB
