Tech, I have no idea what is "the screensaver bug" so I can't really answer the question. But I suppose it has been solved, whatever it was. ;)
Search the forum is difficult to everyone as it is a big forum.
Performance degradation over time with Behavior Shield, Avast 5.0.545
Anyway: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=59823.msg510935#msg510935

Yes this is solved.

I have a disastrous 5.0.584 update also... But I thought the problem was elsewhere.
Long boot time, freezing, and so on.
I've restored an old Comodo Time Machine snapshot.
Tried again and seems to be working.
I've mounted the problematic snapshot into Comodo and I can't see any minidump of avast there.

Hmm, this again looks to me that someone, typically a software firewall, is blocking the avast service from starting and/or accessing the Internet. Your computer in particular, Tech, seems to work as a magnet for these situations. :)

Regarding the startup items, we're investigating these.

Vlk when will be web pages reputation module? Any one from Avast support wrote me It will be soon. When will be?
That module is still under development, which will be going on for a few more months. We shall announce more on that later (when it's ready for testing). So please be patient and stay tuned.

What is that?

Trying 584 on 3 PCs now.

My Windows7 64 bit machine still doesn't like it!

Internet Explorer 7 32 bit still crashes randomly and often when in sandbox mode.  IE goes white (and sometimes black) and unresponsive.  I tried the 'No add-ons' version as well, and that does the same.  One thing that seems to trigger it is opening or switching tabs.

Sandboxed Chrome and flash is still a non-starter.

Incidentally, I can confirm some observations from elsewhere on the forum...Sandboxed 64 bit IE is totally stable on this PC.

I just noticed my avast! stopped completely :o

"Fix now" doesn't work, but "Run now" (sorry I don't know how this called in English, it sit under "Fix now" button) fixed my problem.
I have slept my PC and wake up about an hour ago... I didn't notice.

This is my first time I get such message. :(

I hope this happened by accident. I report this just in case (this is pre-release build...).

Please zip the folder C:\ProgramData\ALWIL Software\Avast5\log and send it to my email address...
(or it's C:\Users\All users\ApplicationData instead of "ProgramData" if you're on XP).

Thanks

I installed 5.0.584 last night and I tried to run a full scan.... the full scan never ends or gets stucked in 18% or gets stuck in 29%... the speed goes down gradually then.

Have anyone notice this?  I am not infected... I just run a full scan with mbam in safe mode everything went fine.

When I run the full scan and Avast stops in one file stays there forever after that Firefox 3.6.4 stops and the mouse does not let me do anything.

The quick scan finishes well, I have memory scan that I did myself and finishes well too, the problem is in the full scan only...

Please advise..rm

Does any of the avast! processes use any CPU (as shown in Task Manager) when it gets stuck?

Hmm, this again looks to me that someone, typically a software firewall, is blocking the avast service from starting and/or accessing the Internet. Your computer in particular, Tech, seems to work as a magnet for these situations. :)
I know that. Is there a way to accelerate the network drivers to load. Seems that the router takes that much time to give me IP, DNS, gateway and so on. The wifi startup is slow in my computer.

Regarding the startup items, we're investigating these.
Thanks.
