Do you mean sf.bin? There shouldn't normally be more than one (unless more than one scan is running at the time).
Well, the resident protection might call it too, but that would be a coincidence (I mean, it would be unrelated to the scan in progress).

Do those processes use any CPU? Are they really stuck (i.e. their process ID doesn't change), or are they finishing and new ones are being started (every few seconds maybe)?

Yes they are sf.bin and I'm only running one scan at a time.... they come and go... my problem now is that when I started to make a scan with SAS it got stuck to because Avast checks the same files than SAS.

I haven't been able to pass 29% when a full scan is started. After the computer gets stuck, nothing I can do and I have to re-starte by force.

No, I don't mean memory usage (or what is "244 k")... I mean the PID column - which is kinda random ID number a process gets associated with when it starts.
Normally, the sf.bin process runs only shortly (a few seconds at most). So, my question is if those four sf.bin processes you see are "fixed" - their PID doesn't change, or if it changes every few seconds (which would mean the processes exist and new ones are started).

It might also be helpful to get Process Explorer, select the sf.bin process in the list, press Ctrl+H and scroll to the "File" handles in to lower pane - to see what file is opened (and whether all of those sf.bin processes have opened the same scanned file).

Yes, indeed, it appears that the scan problem has been solved.

Thank you very much.

Igor,
Do you mean that you have already corrected the problem? or is it in the process of being corrected?

Why isn't AIS saving the connection questions?
Each time I open VirtualBox, an AIS popup asks for connection... I set it to be remembered...

New version is highly unstable...
It's being killed by something... It's crashing... Fix button does nothing...
There is no log saved...

Yes, I meant the next build of the program, not the virus database.

Tech you're on W7 right? okay could it be that your issues only occur on AIS, firewall bugs breaking the whole interface? I'm on "pro" and there's nothing wrong ??? (yeah you may have noticed that I reverted to pro a few weeks ago, too many unsolved issues with this firewall)
