Difficulty with Outlook 98 accounts
« on: July 21, 2004, 10:32:37 PM »
Problems noted with Outlook 98 (NOT Outlook Express) or Outlook98

Using the instructions located here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/support/faq/avast_4_home_profe/email_problems/index.html

The "accounts" in Outlook were not updated using the "manual" procedure outlined at the http address above.  This problem appears to be solved by starting Outlook Express, noting the values that Avast made there only, then manually entering them into Outlook's "accounts" properties for servers.

Why isn't there documention for the correct manual values to connect to Avast's localhost, one that doesn't use a "wizard"?

(I know wizards are fun and easy--but only when they work!)

Outlook (not Express) does not require the account changes.
It is covered by the Outlook/Exchange plugin.

So as far as you're seeing the avast splash screen when starting Outlook, you're all set...

Mail Check tray icon appear?

I see, and thank you.  Without account changes and with the plugin flash screen at Outlook startup existing, does the Mail Check tray icon appear momentarily during send and receive?
