You'd have to stretch the "error" column so that we can actually see the whole error, which will also probably explain why.
For generic computer (not avast) problems, you can also visit my forum for help: http://www.jacobytech.net/forum

- Expand Column Width, hover the mouse pointer over the column header divider until the pointer changes (see image, click to enlarge) left click and hold down the key whilst dragging the pointer to the right.

Well I don't know why it would through up that error, it is a bit strange as it is a windows file system error and not an avast specific error. So I don't know if there is a particular problem with the BIT??.tmp files that are in these Software Distribution, Downloaded files, but for some reason it appears to be trying to look further into the file (the |>_sfx_*. part) when it encounters the end of file.

Personally I don't believe it is something to be overly concerned about.

Have you been updating video card drivers, etc. (my guestimate on the _sfx_ reference) ?

Files that can't be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.

no i dont updating video card drivers,

That was just a guess on my part as sfx is also known as a graphics card manufacturer.

As Tech said avast reports all files that can't be scanned, many AVs won't tell you what can't be scanned.

There really is nothing that you can do or need to do.

No he didn't, see highlighted quote below. He said that a file isn't considered suspicious/infected just because it can't be scanned.

There is nothing to fix. You can remove "Hard errors" from the report. But, really, who cares. It's just a report.

There is ABSOLUTELY nothing related to defragmentation.

if avast showing that some files could not be scanned,  is avast keep scanning other files after those files which could not be scanned?

does it scans other files which can be scanned? or it stops at files which could not be scanned?
