Question about Avast memory use
« on: June 23, 2010, 11:15:48 PM »
Hey, I have a quick question. I'm running Avast 5, Win 7 Pro x64, 2 gigs of ram. Is it normal for the combined service/ui totals to be at only 7MB?

I have an XP machine and the combined service/ui totals are around 30MB. All shields are installed and enabled with both installs. Although the IM and P2P shields have nothing to do on both machines because I don't IM or use P2P stuff. I'll probably just uninstall those two shields.

Seems rather low, but if all is up and running... Be happy..! ;)

I know it seems very low to me, although the Avastsvc.exe went up to about 12MB before. Is it possible something is messed up? Everything seems to be working correctly though. Or am I chasing shadows?

I read around on a few forums and people have very low memory usage with Avast 5 on Win 7 x64, around my numbers stated above. Well, life goes on.

Thanks.

I am at least proud to proclaim I am in Canada but you seem to not want to provide your country for some reason ???

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then select your country in Please select your country: then update your Signature: with information like my signature as this helps the helpers offer pertinent advice.

What? Nice assumption. I never thought about it to be honest. I'm in the U.S..
