License key problem
« on: August 19, 2010, 05:40:55 AM »
I use avast 4.8 FREE version, I went to update def's, it tells me my license key is expired?
Expired for a FREE version?
Then I have gone through BS for the last 30 mins trying to get another one.
And it wont send it to me, wtf is wrong with this picture?
Every now and then you want to STEAL peoples time from them or something?Just to use a free version?
Or do you just want peoples emails to SPAM them?
Because I find this to be strange, I currently can NOT get another key to update the def's, because it wont send it to me.
I even tried to use resend, it says no record in database.
Why the hell would you keep a database of FREE users?
This is absurd utterly A B S U R D!

Oh and if this isn't bad enough, I try to resend my old one, and it says "we have no record in our database".
So you just delete peoples emails from the DB?Because you don't like them?
You know what, I try to do the right thing, and use the free version.
I might just go and get the cracked version, would you like that?
Keep treating people like this, and see how far it gets you.

Avast! Free Antivirus 5.0.594 http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/

On-line registration is very simple and it's the preferred method for all users of avast Free Antivirus 5.0 installed on a computer with standard Internet connectivity. To perform on-line registration follow these steps: http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=459

Hi, are you sure that the email you're trying to send the key to is the one you used to register with? Did you check your junk folder?

I suggest you install avast 5 Free. With version 5, registration is easier. Just go to the Maintenance tab, click Regitration, and fill out the form. No need to email the key.

  • If at first you don’t succeed; call it version 1.0

+1.

I recommend downloading the full Avast setup file from here.
Download the Avast uninstall utility from here.

Go offline.
Remove Avast from "add/remove programs" in the control panel.
Reboot into safe mode.
Run the uninstall utility.
Reboot into normal.
Install Avast from the setup file. When the orange icon appears in the system tray, go back online.
Reboot. A second reboot may be required. You'll know it's good (after at least one boot) when the definitions are updated.
Right click the tray icon, select "registration", follow the prompts.

I have never been spammed by Avast.
