OK one more question. I usually update program update if there is notification about program update, but today i manually update my avast because i wait for notification but there is no notification pop up, but when i open avast gui in maintenance, avast said that there is new version program update, why in avast gui can detect program update but there is no notification pop up?

A new version of Avast was release and it is alerting you in your GUI.  If you want to upgrade it, simply click on "Update."

yes i know but i just curious why there is no pop up notification like before, i set program update "always ask", if i didn't check in GUI maybe until now i didn't know if avast 5.0.594 has been released.

Well, "always ask" must be distributed for 100+ million users (although some of them are on version 4.8). It took some days to everyone to be alerted.

OK but i still didn't get it. ??? this alrm must be distribute to many user so i didn't get any alarm, but in my GUI avast detect that there is new version, i think between alarm notification and GUI there is no similarity, why avast doesn't just detect if GUI has new version so avast will warn with its alarm, so this notification will occure if GUI detect that avast has program update :).
OK thanks for your all replies, i just want to know ;)

I've wondered the same thing.  I'm guessing that when Avast definitions are checked for updates that also the Avast install on a computer has an internal notification.  That is why we see the new program notification in the Avast GUI Summary page.  Perhaps a countdown is started on the individual install based on some random logic so as to distribute the load on the Avast servers.  When this random time is up for our particular install, the update notification window pops up alerting the user.

I asked this question in the past, but received no definitive answer about the difference between the summary page and the Avast Program Update popup.
