Win32:Hupigon-ONX [Trj] How the hell do i get rid of it??
« on: July 09, 2010, 05:31:57 PM »
The company i work for are running Windows Server 2003 with Windows Home Server, we have just installed Avast Server Edition and run a scan on the whole system inwhich avast warns us of Win32:Hupigon-ONX [Trj] has infected two files which are both backups of two computers connected to the server. When i try to move them to the chest i get an error message saying somthing like "D:/ drive full can't move file". why is it in these files only? and why would it say D:/ Drive is full when the files are on C:/ and D:/ is no where near full?  ???

Have deleted the files manually and avast doesnt come up with the Trojan anymore but it still seems we have a virus on the server as some of our calll monitoring software is malfunctioning mysteriously..

Any help or even replies would be appreciated  :) will be here all weekend lol  ;D

if you delete files when they arise in detections, expect to be left with no other options

can you restore to a previous state with or without the Hupigon detection
- look at what options are provided by this avenue, in case you need to do this

were the deletions only from the backups - in which case you may need to reset backups

but wait for response from forum on this one before you act
also return to index at avast!WEBforum at up left hand corner and search keyword 'hupigon' - you will find other threads on this issue

Check your computer for malware with

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
after install click update so you have latest database before scan
click the remove selected button to quarantine anything found
you may post the scan log here if anything is found

If the two computers were okay in the scan randall09, then you shouldn't need worry too much

And of course Malwarebytes does provide a good removal service for malware infections

might have to try that malware scan then, but yea other computers were scanned with avast home edition and come back fine.

Thanks for speedy responses!

you're welcome

might pay to add WHS to the header - either at start or after '....How the hell do I get rid of it?'
the WHS forum members may provide extra support
