Avast ? Did you let this get into my computer ?

For years i used Avast Free at my home (my working computer is a Mac) and as Web consultant i have placed dozens of Avast product.

As i was out, people at home surfed the net.
I get back and my computer was infected. Stuck for 7 minutes on Bios (Testing Memory) before launching. I changed everything but the motherboard and the CPU. I flashed the BIOS and upgrade it. As i mention i changed hard disk so install  new OS from scratch.

Nothing helps, the guys from Gigabyte suggest a BIOS Virus.

Here i'm after 6 days lost with a slow-booter and i'm pissed off.

Any comment ?

Can you please tell me what version of Avast Free you are using?

Do you have other security software installed on your machine including firewall?

Have you run scans on your machine (including Avast Full and Boot Scans, and on-demand scanners) to see if you are malware clean?

Can you give me some information about your OS and machine?  Thank you.

this sounds already like an accusation doesn't it? we know nothing about the sort of infection you're talking about, just that your computer doesn't work anymore

edit: a first suggestion, ask your friends what they did
