Has anybody seen this before? and do you know of a remedy, off hand I'm thinking it's a port or firewall issue. Suggestions?

For some reason, there are machines that I have deployed Avast on but the status shows that it is not installed even though I am able to scan and see the results of the scan. Is there something that I am doing wrong?

this issue has been addressed several times in the forum, search for  grey icons   i believe you will find some threads then...
(dont know them out of my head)

Try looking in the workstation's System Properties then go into the Computer Name tab. Click the bottom button named "Change..." and make sure that the domain and/or workgroup are correct.

I recently had a problem similar and it was because the Workgroup on the System Settings was incorrect.
