Solved my issue with Avast V5 Pro browsing
« on: July 21, 2010, 09:57:13 PM »
Emerging from thread http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=62009.0

I have followed the lead of quaggo and deselected 'scan scripts when executing'
This under 'File system Shield' > Expert settings
I have run like this for 24 hours now and have not experienced any more problems.

I do not know the reason for these problems and will wait for the V5 update due soon

I replied in your other thread before seeing this new one, but I might have your answer...

I had a very similar problem, where my download speed dropped from > 10mbps to less than 1mbps after upgrading to 5.0.594. This was with both IE and Chrome. Deleting port 80 from Troubleshooting\Redirect\HTTP Port solved it.

It's not a perfect solution, but it will do until a newer version comes out.

That isn't solving anything, you are effectively disabling the web shield as it isn't redirecting anything.
