AvastPro 5.0.594: full scan froze
« on: July 18, 2010, 01:19:41 PM »
it froze in the middle of a scheduled scan. UI didn't freeze, just the scanner seemed stuck somewhere in the program data folder, with intense hard disk activity. I clicked on pause, didn't seem to have any effect, clicked on stop, no effect either, minimized the app to sys tray and when I restored it the scan was finally interrupted with the start button available again. I got a dump file. Sending it to FTP with password sent through mail to Vlk.

"with intense hard disk activity"... doesn't sound like it's frozen to me.

okay but there's no data in the "program data" folder justifying such a wait and hard disk activity while being scanned. On a side note, programs crashing (i.e. not just Avast) sometimes generate high CPU and hard disk activity until terminated. Thing is that AvastUI, as said, didn't really crash, but the scan had a problem (???). Anyway I'm doing a new full scan now and it seems that it will complete without any problem.
