Hi all,

From this thread

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=42782

I think I sent this sample (ArnoldSchwarzenegger.zip) to ALWIL lab over 10 hours ago but no update available while other venders have responsed and updated so quickly (I check from http://www.virustotal.com)

This is a big news over the internet but what happens to avast!?

If you would have looked in the list of virusses Avast detects, you would have found out that there is no need for a update of Avast since Avast already detects all variants. So what you call "big news" is in fact old news for Avast

No, at this moment avast! doesn't detect this variant at all as you can see in that pix. :-[

I know it seems that avast! detects a previous version of this malware as Win32:Hackarmy [Tr] but not to this new variant.

This pix I took from Jotti's malware scan when a file " ArnoldSchwarzenegger.zip " was scanned.

Tell me something. If it is such "big news" then why is it that none of the av-develloper websites is mentioning it? I rest my case. Better inform yourself thoroughly before saying something like that.

And another thing. Viruses, spyware, adware, trojans are different things. Since Avast is anti VIRUS software that is the main thing that it detects. And remember there is NO application that detects ALL harmfull things and there never will be such a application.

Please calm down.

The issue is not it's a big news or not.

The issue is that the other antivirus can detect this malware while avast! does not and don't tell me this is not a real threat, is not ITW so avast! can ignore or take time to response it.

Don't tell me this is not computer viruses so avast! can ignore or take time to response it because avast! is an ANTIVIRUS !!! I'd like to tell you to go to the VPS history page and you'll see that there're many many worms  [Wrm] and trojans [Trj] and I'd like to ask you that how many computer viruses when compare to worms and trojans today? The computer virus era seems to pass away today is worms and trojans era and I think antivirus should take response to these first.

I'm so sorry if this makes someone hurts, please forgive me if I'm wrong. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Artras isn't mad or excited. You however only seem to want to post here if you can start an argument. I think I've told you before, if you want to fight, this is the wrong place.
Discussions are great and welcome. Help is even better. Thanks :)

Hi F4,

What date/version has your VPS ?

The speed with which detections are added depends on
- how dangerous i.e. wild-spread the new malware is
- how much other, maybe more urgent samples are in the queue at alwil.

If your sample iss not detected with next update, I'd ask you to give some notice here, and maybe resubmit it..
Thx ;)
