Hi, I was wondering if Malwarebyte Antimalware (for spyware) and Avast! would work together? I heard that Avast! isn't good with spyware, and you need another program for spyware. Would Malwarebyte Antimalware work for this? If not, can you suggest anything else for spyware, or do I even need a program for spyware? ??? Thanks!

Avast! isn't good with spyware

Whenever I run mbam free or SAS free nothing is found.

I also have Zemana, but it never finds a real keylogger spying on me.

I go anywhere & do anything on the internet, I have no infections.

Avast! 5 must be doing something right. ;)

Maybe it's all that blocking ZA is doing. ;D

I don't think it's necessary to buy mbam or sas.

Hey RoadRunner..hehe, I see your config includes OpenDNS, perhaps you'd be more interested in K9 Web Protection (which allows on the fly adjustments to filtering) or SunBelts Clear Cloud which is a more secure DNS than OpenDNS. In testing with VM and TRYING to get infected ClearCloud blocks ALOT to the point I can not load a majority of the malicious sites. As for Avast and MBam, in testing the two together (free versions) I saw no conflicts but would be curious how the Pro or Registered versions might act if they both detected the same malicious files and how that might affect the performance of the PC running two resident protection modules.

What proof is the fact that I have been using OpenDNS for a pretty long time and it works nicely but once I switched to CC I couldn't even do my VM testing to TRY to get infected because CC blocked the site from loading before anything could even be downloaded. I test pretty often, multiple times per week in VM and with K9 Web Protection and OpenDNS you get some nice free protection but with CC that is easily doubled in testing over the course of several nights. I would look to get 0 day exploits and often those were blocked with CC, so it isn't due to the fact that I read things such as SunBelt processes anywhere from 100,000-1 Million sites per day and is used by several large corporations and government entities but instead because of my own testing which I found impressive to say the least. Since it is free and easily utilized I suggest anyone try it for themselves and do what suits them best, I can say though it has beaten OpenDNS and Comodo Secure DNS servers in testing (for me at least). Hope this is useful to someone!
