Last week I <foolishly> did a XP sp3 upgrade + "upgrade" to IE7 ("requied "for sp3).
Promptly began to get redirects on every search I did.
IAt first it appeared related to Firefox, so I uninstalled Firefox.
Then I suspected IE7.
At this point, I decided to dump the whole XP sp3 + IE7, and did a 'System Restore' to prior to 'updates'.
All seemed ok at first, but I've been getting "Malware detected" notification daily, along with total system lock-ups. In the 'Virus Chest' are 3 notifications of "WIN 32 Malware-gen".
I'm frustrated and discouraged, as I lost my PC to a true virus invasion 6 months ago, had another virus on the laptop I'm currently using 3 mo. ago ("cured" & scrubbed by my IT expert who advised me to use Avasti).
3 times will not be a charm for me and I'm about ready to throw in the towel on PCs.
Any suggestions?
