About Avast 5.0.594 & virustotal website
« on: July 24, 2010, 12:40:43 PM »
Hi,
As a loyal & happy user of Avast 5.0.594 I am bringing this to the kind attention of whoever is dealing with this matter  :)

Yesterday in virustotal website there were 42 antivirus software & this 42 included Avast 4.8.1351.0 and Avast 5.0.332

Today in virustotal website there were 41 antivirus software & this 41 included only Avast 4.8.1351.0

On both days the current or latest version is getting missed???

Hello srpgmt,

This sometimes happens, not only avast but also other engines.
You don't have to worry about that, this may be temporary glitch. I have seen this many times before. ::)

And another thing: please don't post same contents twice. ;)

Thanks for your reply.

Hey I am sorry about double posting. Please do not misunderstand me as I never do that. I am facing a problem on this site.It freezes.I am neither able to delete the post, amend it or even know if the post has gone. All I could do was to logout.  :( :-[It's happened twice today. I checked an online service www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com which confirmed that www.forum.avast.com was down

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience & also very embarassed

I don't think "www.forum.avast.com" exists... "www" is unnecessary, "forum.avast.com" is the correct one.
Where did you get this URL? ???

No problems connecting to the forums for that last few hours for me.

In response to srpgmt question, I have copied my response from the other duplicate topic.

I don't know what you mean by current or latest version as the versions used on virustotal are special builds so that they can be used effectively as a command line scanners against the uploaded files.

So you won't see the same build number as those a user might be using.

avast has no control over the scanners run in VT, if one or other of the avast versions aren't listed that is down to VT, possibly maintenance/update, etc.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

My mistake:-[  I inserted www out of force of habit & got the weird ping result  :-[

Kindly delete the duplicate thread if required

srpgmt,

If you feel that your issue is now resolved/fixed, please go back to the open post in this topic, click the modify button in that Post and change the title/subject, add [Resolved] to the beginning of the title so this thread can be closed.  Thank you.  :)

Thanks for telling me. I'll do it. I'll do it everytime now onwards in this forum. It's a very good practice  :)

I am trying to get this right as it is the first time for me. It looks like there is no modify button on my screen presently. Perhaps its there on the Home page where all forum titles are listed...

Or do I click on the gui right on top which gives the mouseover message "Shrink or expand the header"

I am waiting here for your reply so I can do the needful

There is a Modify button on the page when you make a post in the upper right corner.

Don't worry...we all have to learn some time.  ;)
