AvastSvc.exe slowing down internet connection
« on: July 24, 2010, 01:53:54 PM »
Hi guys,

as you can see on the topic subject, sometime (not always) I notice that AvastSvc.exe "eats" most of my internet connection speed...so I have problems with streaming content sites (always buffering), an generally everytime I need a good internet speed...I can determinate that the issue is involved with AvastSvc.exe cause Comodo firewall indicates that this process is using about 100% of the band....
So I'm wondering...is this one a known issue?? How could I fix this problem??

Thanks
Wonder  :D

It's not using the bandwidth, it's scanning the connections.
Why are you using version 4.8 yet and not the 5.0?

@ Tech
He is using avast5, avastSvc.exe is an avast5 file.

@ wonder
You don't understand how avast works, a) it doesn't initiate connections and b) the avastSvc.exe is the main scanning engine and controls all shield activity. So what you are seeing is the web shield redirection of http traffic so it can scan the content. You should see a corresponding decline in your browser bandwidth use as the traffic is redirected through the web shield proxy.
