Emails Stuck in Outlook Outbox after upgrade to 5.0 Pro

I have been a Free HOME Avast user for 5 years or so, and just upgraded to the PRO version (Version 5.0.677). I am now experiencing a problem where some (not all but 10-20%) of my emails stay in the Outbox in Microsoft Outlook (they do not "send"). I have to move the email back into the 'inbox' and then open it up and hit SEND "again" for it to actually go out. Also, the function of DELAYED DELIVERY (where I can set an email to be sent at say 9am tomorrow morning) does not work any longer. I am pretty sure that this is due to the new Avast/Outlook plugin. Have you had any others with this complaint, or know of any issues to resolve this? I love Avast but this is a problem as several times now I've thought I sent an email to my client, only to look in the outbox several hours later and see the email just sitting there:(
