What is the deal with Avast Server Edition??
« on: July 27, 2010, 09:14:31 AM »
I installed it remotely on our SBS2003 server and then the software locks me out!

Also, SBS reports are being sent with the text:

"Service Unavailable"

Which is the same message I get when I try to remote in after the install!

Is their firewall (Avast's) misconfigured??

Crazy - is it back to TrendMicro's ridiculous product for us??

I just talked to Tech Support and they told me to turn off Avast, and I did that, but still the same effect - no access.

Only SBS version installed.

Have no idea why they do not want to post here...

No other security programs installed - answering their questions here. (On the phone with them)

Went into Log Viewer and no entries except 2:

1. DB updated.

2. VRDB successfully generated.

(Nothing unusual at all)

That was a *very* quick uninstall!!  :o

AND NOW (remote access using SBS2003's native manager via https) IT WORKS!!

Time to look at other software, or will they give us a fix??

...back to trying Kaspersky's trio of programs to install (their Admin kit didn't work) - or which other vendor has a real good simple and effective product?

URGENT!!!

I am again requesting Avast Tech Support to address this issue:

I am now being advised by the server through daily updates that:

"Critical Errors in Application Log

Source   Event ID   Last Occurrence   Total Occurrences
   W3SVC-WP
2214   27-Jul-10 11:38 AM   5 *
The HTTP Filter DLL C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\AvIsaHlp.dll failed to load. The data is the error.

Source   Event ID   Last Occurrence   Total Occurrences
   W3SVC-WP
2268   27-Jul-10 11:38 AM   5 *
Could not load all ISAPI filters for site/service. Therefore startup aborted. "

PLEASE ADVISE HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!

did you uninstall all the software with justt add/remove?
if so run from both packages (avast and what was on there before avast) the special uninstaller  and then install avast again
